ISI’s national campus presence and integrated program of lectures, conferences, publications, and fellowships reach thousands of students and professors each year. Following our motto “To Educate for Liberty,” ISI idetifies the best and brightest college students and nurtures in these future leaders the American ideal of ordered liberty. Now you have an opportunity to join this community of students and scholars for free.

Principles of a Free Society
ISI articulates and defends the ideas of a free society on the American college campus. These ideas include:

Individual Liberty
Individuals possess rights to life, liberty, and property, and freedom from the restrictions of arbitrary force. They exercise these rights through the use of their natural free will.

Personal Responsibility
Because each individual is morally responsible for his acts, citizens in a free society have an obligation to educate themselves to further the common good through the political process.

The Rule of Law
Laws, not men, rule a free society. The United States Constitution is the best arrangement yet devised for empowering government while preventing the concentration of power.

Limited Government
The rightful functions of government are to guarantee individual liberty, private property, internal order, provision of national defense, and the administration of justice.

The Market Economy
Allocating resources by free play of supply and demand is the single economic system compatible with the requirements of a free society.

Cultural Norms
The values and customs of the Judeo-Christian tradition inform and guide a free society. Without such ordinances, society induces its decay by embracing a relativism that rejects an objective moral order.

ISI’s Programs Give You the Education You Deserve

Conferences
As a student attending ISI conference said, “To meet and learn from the intellectual vanguard of American conservatism is a rare opportunity.” At ISI conferences, you will meet like-minded students and examine important issues with prominent scholars.

Self-Reliance Project
ISI is dedicated to ensuring you receive the education you deserve. ISI publishes Student Guides to the Major Disciplines to provide wisdom and advice from leading scholars. Called “mini-great books in themselves” by The Wall Street Journal, these guides will set you on the path to liberal learning.

Undergraduate Honors Fellowships
This prestigious ISI program pairs students with some of America’s best professors for a week of learning and fellowship in locales such as Oxford, England, Washington, D.C., and Seattle, Washington. ISI selects a small number of the most talented undergraduates to participate in this summer retreat, which is followed by a year of faculty mentoring, online discussions with other fellows and faculty mentors, free ISI books and publications, and access to future ISI-sponsored and co-sponsored conferences.

Lectures
You can host or attend more than 100 ISI-sponsored lectures each year. Lectures are an opportunity to introduce conservative thought to your campus community and to learn from nationally known scholars such as Robert P. Fox, Elizabeth Fox-Genevese and Peter Lawler.

Campus Leadership
Campus Associates–among our nation’s best and brightest students–assist ISI in informing their fellow students and faculty about our programs. As a Campus Associate, you will be armed with the resources to start a reading group, host lectures, and distribute ISI publications. ISI also encourages professors to lead the ISI presence on their campuses.

ISI on the Web
On ISI’s home on the Internet, www.isi.org, you will find information on ISI programs, lectures, the latest from ISI Books, and other important news and updates.

“I got my diploma from the university, but I received my education from ISI.”

-Former Campus Leader
